Clinical hypnosis has gained considerable attention and credibility in the last several decades, due to its widespread and effective use by doctors, dentists, surgeons, psychologists and psychiatrists, as well as hypnotherapists. Despite that, misconceptions abound, due to inaccurate portrayals in literature or on stage and screen.

Hypnosis is not a form of mind control. No one can force you to act against your will.  No one can make you do anything under hypnosis that you do not want to do. And you are free to come out of hypnosis at any time you want.  Under hypnosis, you are still able to use all of your senses, and to think, analyze, and decide.   You can also talk, walk, and move your body if you want to.

Hypnosis is not a zombie-like state that somebody can put you in  and manipulate you into doing what you wouldn’t otherwise do.  Hypnotic suggestions can not be used for deceitful manipulation or to exploit a person’s vulnerabilities.

While I do believe that people can be manipulated into doing what they otherwise wouldn’t choose freely to do by means of intimidation, deception, physical force, or sexual enticement. But putting someone in hypnosis does not thereby render them subject to, or any more susceptible to, anyone else’s will.

Since hypnosis requires your full cooperation, you can never be compelled to accept as true or do anything under hypnosis that violates your ethical standards, moral or spiritual beliefs, core values, sense of good taste, or personal preferences.

During hypnosis, the critical part of a person’s mind is fully functional  and evaluates any suggestions to determine whether they are in conflict with what that person believes and values.  Any conflicting suggestions are rejected by the critical mind.

At any time during hypnosis, you can open your eyes and come out of it if you want or need to do so. Nothing prevents you from getting up and walking out the door. The choice is always yours.

Coming out of hypnosis is easy. I always bring you back to full consciousness before the session concludes, so you are ready to continue with the rest of your day, feeling rested and fully alert. You also learn how to bring yourself out of hypnosis for those times when you are practicing self-hypnosis or listening to the hypnosis audio file I make and email to you after each session.

Hypnosis is NOT a magic wand or miracle cure that can instantaneously achieve goals or immediately wipe away all problems and dissolve all negative blocks.

That being said, if you are open, ready to make the changes you declare, and committed to doing your part of the process, hypnotherapy can be highly effective in replacing your chaotic, destructive behavior patterns with consistent, constructive ones that get enable you to complete your goals.

Using the many tools and techniques I apply and teach you, you learn first hand that success breeds success. As a result, you relish each accomplishment and thereby strengthen your resolve, self-confidence and self-esteem.  Armed with the means to overcome any residual resistance that may crop up, you accelerate your progress and rely on a process you see working in your life. Because these tools and techniques are highly adaptable, you can use them to overcome  inner blocks that impact other areas of your life.  As a result, you face your future with enthusiasm and courage, knowing you have what it takes to succeed.
