Bingeing: self-sabotage to the max!
Self-sabotage Is Puzzling
Why would someone intentionally undermine their success in achieving their goals and living their dreams? Sounds crazy, doesn’t it? You would think it would be just the opposite–intentionally taking constructive action to achieve that success, wouldn’t you?
The Reason Most People Self-Sabotage
The truth of the matter is, unless a person seeks to punish themself (for whatever reason) and chooses to do so by intentionally acting in a subversive way, the reason why the majority of people self-sabotage is for self-protection. They are fearful of something they believe achieving their goal (or even trying to achieve it) would bring about. One female client (75 pounds overweight and warned by her doctor to stop risking her life) came to hypnotherapy claiming she wanted to slim down and live a healthy lifestyle. But after several sessions over many weeks, she saw no positive results. The needle on the scale hadn’t budged. After much digging into her mindset, learning more about her past, it turns out she was raped when she was a teen-ager and gained the weight shortly after, and kept it on. Since then, she has remained single and rarely dated. At a subconscious level, she wanted to keep the weight on to protect herself from another attack.
Other Reasons for Self-Sabotage
Yes, there are those who sabotage their goals for reasons other than self-punishment or self-protection. Out of boredom. (Think of the would-be concert pianist who is bored with practicing the same piece over and over). Or out of laziness. (I’m just too tired today to do my practice run for my first half-marathon.). But most people are motivated by the desire to protect themselves from something they don’t want, be it jealousy of their success or too much responsibility, and the list goes on.
Hypnotherapy to Overcome Self-Sabotage
I am looking for clients who want to stop sabotaging their goals and dreams, and start achieving them. Whether you procrastinate, accept limiting beliefs, cave in to negative self-talk, strive for perfection, second-guess themselves, lack perseverance, or fear failure, with hypnotherapy you can reprogram your subconscious mind, where positive change begins and develops, to attain your goals and live your dreams. I offer a free half-hour consultation over the phone or Zoom to explain hypnotherapy and how it can work for you, to discuss your particular goals and dreams and the ways you sabotage them, and to answer any questions you may have. There is no obligation to book any sessions. So what do you have to lose…except your self-sabotaging ways of behaving and thwarting your success and happiness?
